Sitting in his downtown Rochester studio next to a vast, vintage sound board, Lou Gramm is his familiar relaxed, genial self as he patiently answers questions for a series of videos. Now 62, he is not a rocker in repose. He joins the Rochester Music Hall of Fame Sunday night. On June 13 he’ll be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame with his songwriting partner, Mick Jones. Many interviews have yet to be done. And Gramm has gigs throughout the summer, from Utah to his home town of Gates. It’s been 18 years since he was sentenced to death by his doctors, and 10 since he’s officially been associated with Foreigner. But what goes around comes around, and here comes Foreigner, Gramm and Jones again…

Lou Gramm, accomplished musician, song writer and lead singer of the iconic band Foreigner, will launch his autobiography, “Juke Box Hero: My Five Decades in Rock ’N’ Roll,” at Monroe Community College on Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m. Tickets to “An Evening with Lou Gramm” are $40 per person; available at www.monroecctickets.com. A portion of the proceeds will support student scholarships through the Monroe Community College Foundation.
In addition to receiving a signed copy of the book, audience members will hear Gramm share anecdotes about his career, perform acoustically, and answer questions from the audience. The book was co-written with best-selling author and award-winning columnist Scott Pitoniak and published by Triumph Books.
Gramm is a 1971 graduate of MCC and a charter member of the college’s alumni hall of fame.
“I have many fond memories of my time as a student at MCC and felt my alma mater would be the perfect place to officially launch my book,’’ said Gramm, a Rochester native who attended Gates Chili High School. “There was some pressure to launch the book in a major market, but I insisted that it be done in my hometown. Rochester and MCC have always been tremendously supportive of me. I can’t think of a better place to do this than in the city I still call home.”
Gramm is one of rock ’n’ roll’s most distinctive and popular voices. As lead vocalist and co-songwriter for Foreigner and his own band, Gramm helped churn out seven multi-platinum albums and sell more than 70 million records. He contributed to 20 Top 40 singles, including “Cold As Ice,” “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Urgent,” “Midnight Blue” and “Juke Box Hero.” Rolling Stone magazine called him “the Pavarotti of the power-rock ballad.” Nils Lofgren, the lead guitarist for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, says “Lou Gramm is one of the great vocalists of our time.”
Gramm will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City and the Rochester Music Hall of Fame this spring.
The event will be held in the college’s theatre (Building 4), 1000 East Henrietta Rd., Rochester. Free parking will be available in lots F and E.

New York, NY – February 22, 2013 – Musical titans Tony Hatch, Mick Jones & Lou Gramm, Holly Knight, JD Souther and Steven Tyler & Joe Perry will become the latest inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization’s 44th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. These legendary songwriters wrote such mega-hits as “Downtown,” “I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” “Best Of My Love” and “Dude (Looks Like A Lady).” The star-studded induction event is slated for Thursday, June 13th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Additional special award honorees will be announced soon.

Mick Jones & Lou Gramm:
Foreigner’s legendary songwriting partners, Mick Jones and Lou Gramm, have together propelled an arsenal of ten multi-platinum albums and multiple Top 30 hits. Universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world, the band is responsible for some of the greatest rock anthems of our time, including the worldwide #1 hit, “I Want To Know What Love Is,” which today remains as one of the 25 most performed songs in the ASCAP catalog. Other iconic songs include “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice” and “Long, Long Way From Home” from their self-titled 1977 debut album. Major songs in the Jones and Gramm catalog include “Juke Box Hero,” “Hot Blooded” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You.” A multi-talented and multi-dimensional “musician’s musician,” Jones has also written songs such as “Bad Love” with Eric Clapton and “Dreamer” with Ozzy Osbourne, and produced records for others including Billy Joel’s Storm Front and Van Halen’s 5150. A Grammy® and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter, Jones is the winner of the prestigious British Ivor Novello songwriter award for the song “The Flame Still Burns,” from the soundtrack Still Crazy. In the late 80s, Gramm released two solo albums to critical and commercial acclaim; Ready or Not and Long Hard Look, respectively, which produced several top 10 hit singles including, “Midnight Blue”, “Just Between You and Me” and the top 40 hit “True Blue Love”. Gramm also contributed a song to the soundtrack for the 1987 movie The Lost Boys, titled “Lost in the Shadows”. In May 2013, Triumph Books will release Gramm’s biography, Juke Box Hero, The Lou Gramm Story.
